About GBS

Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS) is a non-profit academic program managed and implemented by OeAD student housing. It is organized in cooperation with BOKU University, TU Wien, and over 70 global academic partners.

Held annually in Vienna, the program offers a holistic approach to sustainability, combining lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and field excursions. Through hands-on education, pioneering planners and engineers share their experiences and best practices, providing valuable insights into integrating sustainability and quality in design and construction.

Participants earn 7 ECTS credits and join a global network advancing sustainable construction.

Why GBS?

Cities are growing rapidly while climate targets demand a fundamental shift in how we plan, design, and build our urban environment. Municipalities, planners, and engineers face increasing demand to deliver energy-efficient and climate-resilient solutions.

GBS addresses these challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration and a holistic educational approach. The program focuses on practical strategies for sustainable urban development, circular building, and energy systems, combining theoretical input with applied design work on an urban site in Vienna.
